Estate 1970s 14K Gold 24 Carat Ethiopian Opal and Diamond Statement Ring

An oval Ethiopian opal cabochon, weighing approximately 24 carats, centers this 14-karat gold ring from the 1970s. Flashes of red, green, and blue move across the stone's dark body tone as it turns in the light. Ethiopian opal is hydrophane, meaning it can absorb moisture and shift in appearance when wet. Thirteen round brilliant diamonds, channel-set along one shoulder and pavé-set along the other, frame the opal without drawing focus from it. At a substantial ring size 10, the wide gold shoulders give it real weight and presence on the hand.
