A freeform blue topaz in light sky blue crowns this 14-karat yellow gold statement ring, held in four claw prongs between bypass shoulders. The shoulders curve around the stone in opposite directions, and an openwork gallery underneath opens the stone to light from below. Topaz sits at 8 on the Mohs hardness scale, one step below sapphire and ruby. The head rises high above a slim shank, so the ring wears with a bold, lifted profile while the band sits light between the fingers.
