Vintage 1970s 18K Gold 0.25 CT Oval Emerald & 2.02 CT Diamond Dome Ring

This vintage 1970s cocktail ring in 18 karat yellow gold sets an oval emerald at the crest of a dome covered in diamonds. A single row of baguette diamonds crosses the dome like a bright horizon line, and the emerald sits right where the sun would rise.

The baguettes are channel-set: they’re held edge to edge between two rails of gold with no prongs between them, so the row reads as one unbroken bar of light. Above and below, the round diamonds are pavé-set, packed so closely that very little metal shows between them. The diamonds far outweigh the emerald, which leaves the green as the ring’s single point of color.
