A Baume & Mercier tiger's eye stone dial wristwatch in eighteen-karat gold, dating to the 1970s. A rope-twist gold bezel frames the cushion case, and the hardstone dial carries the warm banded chatoyancy of tiger's eye beneath slim gold hands. Hardstone dials were a signature of 1970s Swiss dress watchmaking, when houses turned to tiger's eye, lapis, and onyx in place of a printed dial. On its brown leather strap the watch stays close-fitting and can be easily adjusted.
