Vintage Edwardian Style 14K Gold 0.7 Carat Diamond and Seed Pearl Brooch Pendant

An old European cut diamond weighing 0.40 carats centers this Edwardian-style 14-karat gold brooch pendant, circa 1960. Five round brilliant diamonds crown the piece in a fan of rays, framed by pierced gold scrollwork set with grey seed pearls. Old European cut diamonds like this one were faceted by hand before the arrival of precision cutting, giving them a softer glow under low light than a modern round brilliant. A hidden bale on the reverse lets it slide onto a chain, so it wears as a brooch or converts into a pendant.
