Vintage Mid-Century 10K Yellow Gold Beveled Black Onyx Ring

Two sculpted shoulders curve inward to cradle a beveled black onyx in this vintage mid-century 10-karat yellow gold ring. The top of the onyx is cut into long parallel facets that pick up light in bands across the black. Onyx belongs to the chalcedony family, a fine-grained form of quartz. The shank narrows to a slim band at the back and keeps the volume on top of the finger, where the raised head sits high enough to wear as a statement ring.
