Rolex's Oyster Perpetual Bubbleback is one of the defining automatic watches of the mid-twentieth century — the "Bubbleback" name refers to the domed caseback required to house the oversized self-winding rotor Rolex introduced in the 1930s. This example is housed in stainless steel case and presents a black dial signed "Rolex Oyster Perpetual / Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified," with gold-toned Arabic numerals and a full outer minute track. The Oyster Perpetual designation confirms a factory-sealed, waterproof Oyster case with the self-winding Perpetual rotor movement inside. Worn on a black croc-embossed leather strap with a Rolex-signed stainless steel tang buckle, it carries well on a medium wrist and reads cleanly as a vintage sport-dress piece.
